Pomaria-Garmany Elementary School
"Anchored in Excellence"
Welcome to the 2010-2011academic year! Many diverse learning experiences are in place for your children this year. Our goal at Pomaria-Garmany Elementary Schools is to challenge your children academically. Academic emphasis on the core content areas of reading, language arts, science, social studies, and math will remain a priority as well as providing a learning program that builds each year to reach district and SC state standards. Pomaria-Garmany Elementary will strive to develop a student body of good character; students who make good choices and decisions resulting in successful outcomes as we enter a second year of Positive Behavior Intervention & Support (PBIS).
Since we recognize that parents are their children's first and most important teachers, we need your cooperation and involvement to provide them with the best education possible. Take time to talk with your children about their school experiences. Your interest and concern in their school progress will motivate them to do their best. Maintain contact with your children's teachers and with me. Ask questions and communicate concerns so that we can build a partnership which will ensure student success.
As you work with your child and his/her teachers to kick off a great school year, I would like to provide information to assist you in preparing for the new school year. The car and bus rider procedures will remain the same. Families will retain the same number from the previous school year. Please remember to make sure that your number is hung on your rear view mirror. It is extremely important for your child to know his or her number.
Open House will be held on August 16, 2010 from 6:30pm-8:00pm. August 18, 2009 is the first day of school for students. Students should arrive at school at 7:20am daily. Students will not be permitted in the building before 7:20am. The tardy bell will ring at 7:45am. Students will continue to receive free breakfast in the classroom; however, they need to arrive to school by 7:35am. Students will be dismissed at 2:40pm.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call. It is truly a pleasure to work with such a dedicated and involved community. I look forward to working with you and your child during the school year to provide a productive and safe learning environment that supports student success and academic achievement.
