Dear
Parents, Visitors and Guests,
Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year!
We have had a wonderful beginning of the new school year.
I am Mike Stroud, and I am going into my third year as the
Principal of Reuben Elementary School. I am pleased to announce that our
school met AYP in ELA and we look for even better things for this
year. We also received a Farm to School grant in the amount of $3000.00
for our students to use to benefit our school.
Our current faculty assignments for the year are as follows: PreK-
Mrs. Lominick and Mrs. Griffin, Kindergarten- Ms. Orne and Mrs. Wix,
First grade- Mrs. Kitchens and Mrs. Whitlock, Second grade- Mrs.
Hedgepath, Third grade- Mrs. Roberta Kinard, Fourth grade- Ms. Dyal,
Fifth grade- Ms. Malone. The remainder of the staff is as follows: Mrs.
Rynn Kinard-Resource, Mr. Tepper- Guidance, Mrs. Suber- Library, Mrs.
Abrams- Computer Lab, Mr. Newton and Mrs. Roy- P.E., Ms. Abbott- Art,
Mrs. Smith- Music, and Mrs. Morris-Speech. Mrs. Wilson is in charge of
the office area and will gladly handle any questions or concerns that
you may have regarding our school.
I would like to encourage parents to get involved
and stay involved in your child's education. It is extremely important
in the early years for parents to have an active role in their child's
education. Please feel free to visit our school and your child's
classroom at anytime. All we ask is that you check into the office when
you enter the building. If you are interested in volunteering or
chaperoning for field trips, please take time to fill out the forms for
the background check and pay $25.00 for the process. We welcome your
involvement. We have the forms in the main office.
Talk to your child daily about school and READ, READ, READ to
your child daily if possible! These little things do make a difference
in your child's success at school! " The more you read the more you
know, the more you know, the more places you'll go!-Dr. Seuss.
Our faculty and staff are anticipating a great year! We are
looking forward to working with you and your child. If you have any
questions, please feel free to call the school at 321-2664 or e-mail me
at
mstroud@newberry.k12.sc.us.
Hopefully, we can work together to make this a
great year!
