What’s New in the Library

We had a rip-roaring, bronco-busting good time in the library around our "campfire".  We "toasted" marshmallows and sampled apple "cider" after listening to some great cowboy stories such as, Don't Touch My Hat, by James Rumford, Cowboy Camp, by Tami Sauer, Saving Sweetness, by Diane Stanley and Sixteen Cows, by Lisa Wheeler.  We even got to sit up on a real, authentic horse saddle.

We celebrated the "Fabulous Females of Fairy Tales" during February.  Mrs. Wise dressed as Cinderella and shared several versions of this classic fairy tale.  Mrs. Long shared the modern day tale of The Paper Bag Princess by Robert Munsch along with her trusty dragon puppet.  The stories were shared with all students in grades PreK - 5 and everyone truly enjoyed the show.

During March, we had some special guests visit with us in honor of Dr. Seuss' birthday and Read Across America.  The Cat in the Hat visited our school and Sam I Am, from Green Eggs and Ham, joined us in the library.  Classes were asked to guess the identity of Sam I Am on the WNES morning news show.  The first class to call in with the right answer won a special treat from the library.

We also celebrate Read Across America with a Stop-Drop-Read activity.  As soon as it was announced, teachers stopped, dropped what they were doing, and read a Dr. Seuss book with their students.

Stay tuned to see what characters will be visiting our library next!!
