Flood Relief

Louisiana Flood Relief Hits Close to Home!

The MCMS Jr. Beta would like to thank everyone who participated in our first Kindness Project. We raised over $650 in gift cards to Lowe’s, Home Depot, and Wal-Mart to help Mr. G’s family in Louisiana who lost everything in the recent flooding. Her family asked to give everyone a huge “Thank You” for the act of love, kindness, and support.

Mr. Daniel Wicker (803) 364-3634

Paper 503 kg or 1,106 pounds

Metal 15 kg or 33 pounds

Plastic 28.5 kg or 62 pounds

Cardboard 15 kg or 33 pounds

Students at MCMS take a very active role in recycling. Each week during enrichment 7th grade students go around and collect the recyclable materials for the classroom. Students then weigh the amount collected and bag it up for the Newberry County Recycling Center to pick up. By the end of the school year, almost every 7th grade student has taken part in this process several times and understands the importance of recycling materials. Hopefully students are bringing home the habit of recycling and passing the practice on to their family members.
