Georgia-Pacific Contributes $16,000 to Newberry County Schools

NEWBERRY, S.C. — Georgia-Pacific’s Prosperity Plywood and Lumber facility has contributed $16,000 to eight schools in the School District of Newberry County, continuing the company’s support of students, educators and schools throughout the community.

Each of the following schools received a $2,000 contribution:

  • Little Mountain Elementary School

  • Mid-Carolina Middle School

  • Mid-Carolina High School

  • Newberry High School

  • Newberry Middle School

  • Prosperity-Rikard Elementary School

  • Pomaria-Garmany Elementary School

  • Whitmire Community School

The contributions provide each school with additional resources that can be directed toward programs, initiatives and needs that support students and enhance their educational experiences.

“We are incredibly grateful to Georgia-Pacific for continuing to invest in our schools and our students,” Superintendent Dr. Chan Anderson said. “Strong community partnerships play an important role in the success of our district. This generous contribution demonstrates Georgia-Pacific’s commitment to Newberry County and provides our schools with additional opportunities to support students in meaningful ways.”

Georgia-Pacific has an established presence in Newberry County through its Prosperity operations and has provided financial support to district schools in previous years.

“We appreciate Georgia-Pacific providing these funds directly to our schools and giving our school leaders the flexibility to use them where they can have the greatest impact,” Chief Financial Officer Daniel Haven said. “Community support like this helps schools enhance opportunities for students while complementing the resources provided by the district.”

Georgia-Pacific representatives said the contribution reflects the company’s commitment to the communities in which its employees live and work.
