Katie Shaw Named FSI Teacher of the Week!
Please congratulate Mrs. Katie Shaw, NMS 7th/8th Grade Science Teacher, Student Ambassador Sponsor, and Head Cheer Coach for being the FSI Office Teacher of the Week. (Week of Dec. 1st-Dec. 5th)

Newberry Middle School is eligible to win $600.00 for school supplies if Mrs. Shaw wins the Teacher of the Month. If a monthly winner, she will be invited to attend a celebration to honor all the teachers of the month in Charlotte, North Carolina where the FSI Office Teacher All-Star of the Year is named and awarded classroom furniture, classroom gifts and a check for $5,000.00 to purchase classroom supplies from FSIoffice.
**Congratulations to Mrs. Katie Shaw, who has been recognized as the FSI Teacher of the Week! Mrs. Shaw has made an incredible impact during her four years at NMS. She serves as the Science Lead, the Student Ambassadors Sponsor, and the Head Cheer Coach, bringing energy, leadership, and dedication to every role she takes on. Today, (12/3) she was presented this award by Sherrell Ott, FSI Customer Service Manager.
Mrs. Shaw recently completed her master's degree in educational administration through Clemson University and is an active member of both the NMS Leadership Academy and the NMS Leadership Team. Mrs. Shaw is currently working on her Doctoral degree. In addition to her leadership on campus, she is an outstanding grant writer, securing multiple grants for NMS, including helping bring the Greenwood Agricultural Lab to our school on several occasions. In addition, she secured the AgSouth Grant which assisted NMS with the outdoor classroom at NMS.
We are so fortunate to have Mrs. Shaw as part of the NMS family. We are incredibly proud of her and all she continues to accomplish!

NHS is hosting a Parent University on Dec. 2nd.


Newberry Middle School is proud to recognize three outstanding students—Za Nyrii Evans, Quang Minh Bui, and Aaron Luz—for being named South Carolina Junior Scholars!
To qualify for this honor, students must earn a score of 550 or higher on the Evidence-Based Reading & Writing section of the PSAT/NMSQT, or a score of 530 or higher on the Math section. These students have demonstrated remarkable academic excellence and dedication to their studies.
To celebrate their achievement, each Junior Scholar was awarded their favorite meal from Zaxby’s, compliments of Mr. Reid. Students also received a commemorative plaque to honor this exceptional accomplishment. Parents were invited to a special celebration held in the media center, where they were also treated to a meal provided by Mr. Reid and the NMS Administrative Staff.
A special thank you to Dr. Leroy York and the NMS Faculty who dedicated their time to hosting after-school prep sessions in preparation for this year’s PSAT. Your commitment and support played a meaningful role in helping our students succeed.
